$225,000 Donated to Support Vocational Programming at MSD of Martinsville Schools - Monday, January 23, 2017

William Blaschke announces the Robert D. Blue Endowment for Parallel Pathways for Education in Morgan CountyA group of local philanthropists represented by William Blaschke have established the Endowment Fund for Parallel Pathways and Education in Morgan County with a $225,000 donation to the Community Foundation of Morgan County. This endowment has been established to honor the memory of Robert D Blue Jr., who was a life-long educator and philanthropist, and will initially benefit vocational training at the Metropolitan School District of Martinsville.

Jen Staggs, CFMC Director of Community EngagementThe Community Foundation of Morgan County announced that Jen Staggs has joined the staff of the Community Foundation of Morgan County as the new Director of Community Engagement. With more than twenty years of business experience, Staggs is passionate about making a difference in the Morgan County community.

“It is such a pleasure to join the Community Foundation of Morgan County. I grew up here, raised my family here, and am ready to help enhance our community and help the CFMC impact our county,” Staggs stated. “Together, through strategic collaboration and increased outreach, we will make a greater positive impact on Morgan County.”

Bulldog Blessings Food Pantry Grand Opening with assistance from CFMC Grant to Gleaners - Thursday, January 12, 2017

The community is invited to attend the grand opening celebration and logo reveal of the Bulldog Blessings Food Pantry at the Monroe-Gregg School District on Saturday, January 21st at 8:30 am. Attendees should enter through the Monrovia High School front entrance. Refreshments will be provided.

1 in 3 students at Monrovia Elementary receive free or reduced lunch assistance. The Bulldog Blessings Food Pantry was established to address this issue of childhood hunger in the Monroe-Gregg School District. The newly established pantry allows the district to provide food and personal hygiene items to students, student families, and staff who are food insecure.

The Community Foundation of Morgan County awarded Gleaners Food Bank a $7,000 Impact Grant to fund the purchase of two refrigerators for the Bulldog Blessings Food Pantry, as well as supporting monthly food distributions to stock the pantry.

Edward Kominowski, CFMC Executive DirectorThe Indiana Philanthropy Alliance (IPA) has announced that Ed Kominowski, Community Foundation of Morgan County Executive Director has been appointed to its board of directors as of January, 2017. IPA is a statewide non-profit network of and for Indiana’s grantmaking community. The Alliance strives to champion, support, and connect its members as they transform Indiana through effective philanthropy.

2017 CFMC & Kendrick Foundation Scholarship Season Open - Wednesday, January 04, 2017

Morgan County high school seniors and residents looking to further their education may find financial assistance through the Community Foundation of Morgan County, which will help distribute nearly 40 unique scholarships this year. Additionally, the CFMC manages the Kendrick Foundation Scholarship for select degree programs in the healthcare field. All scholarships applications are due by 4pm EST on February 17, 2017. $6,321 Raised on #GivingTuesday for Morgan County Christmas Assistance Program - Wednesday, December 21, 2016

For the second year, the Community Foundation of Morgan County (CFMC) and Citizens Bank teamed up to raise $6,321 in donations on #GivingTuesday for the county-wide Morgan County Christmas Assistance Program facilitated through Churches in Mission. Once again, Citizens Bank generously offered a $1-for-$1 match for every online donation made through the #GivingTuesday campaign.

Morgan County Lilly Endowment Community Scholars Announced - Thursday, December 08, 2016

Two Morgan County residents have been named the 2017 Morgan County Lilly Endowment Community Scholars. These scholarships are the largest awarded each year by the Community Foundation of Morgan County.

Hunter Marsh and Katelin Scott will each receive full tuition for four years to the Indiana college of their choice and a $900 yearly stipend for required books and equipment.

In addition to Marsh and Scott, there were four other finalists in this year’s application cycle for the Lilly Endowment Community Scholarship. Finalists included: Mercedes DeMoss (Martinsville High School), Garrett Fehrman (Mooresville High School), Lucy Hall (Martinsville High School), and Hayley Taylor (Martinsville High School). All four finalists will receive scholarships awarded by the board of the Community Foundation of Morgan County to honor their achievements.
