Be your own Cupid!

February is the month of love. Supposedly, some baby in a diaper with a bow and arrow flies around and spreads love. I’ve never seen Cupid, but I do see neighbors loving neighbors in Morgan County. For example, the Mooresville and Martinsville tornadoes. Hours after those horrible tragedies occurred, residents from all over the county showed up for their neighbors in need. A coalition of stakeholders wanting to impact Morgan County residents’ lives was formed with Home Bank’s direction. Dozens of people were involved in this effort. Cupid had nothing to do with neighbors or stakeholders coming together in support of those in need; it is the culture of Morgan County.  Culture is more than a feeling, it’s a sense of place.

This month, I challenge you to be your own Cupid. Start shooting love at our youth, leaders, first responders, etc.

Mother Teresa said it best: “Love is not patronizing, and charity isn’t about pity, it is about love. Charity and love are the same – with charity, you give love, so you don’t just give money but reach out with your hand instead.”
