Fund Description:

Scholarship based on financial need for a Mooresville High School student wishing to continue their education at a college or vocational school or provide financial need to an enrolled Ben Davis HS Building Trades Program.

Purpose: For a student with demonstrated financial need wishing to continue their education at a college or vocational school, or for a student currently enrolled in the Ben Davis HS Building Trades Program. The award may also be made to the winner of the State VICA award.

History: This scholarship was created to honor the memory of Devin Wade Deaton, known affectionately by his friends as “Big D.,” who passed away in 2004. Devin was a member of the Mooresville High School class of 2004 and attended Area 31 Vocational Training at Ben Davis High School. He was a member of Vocational Industrial Clubs of America and had an exceptional talent for masonry, winning many VICA awards. He was an avid hunter and fisherman who loved the outdoors, and he was a member of the Forbidden Fantasy Car Club.
