To provide support to the Community Service Center of Morgan County.
History: Founded in 1988, WellSpring serves as the only shelter for homeless families in Morgan County
Emergency shelter- families are moved from the streets, abandoned buildings and cars, into fully-furnished apartment units at no cost to them. Stay is 30 days with extensions granted as families work toward self-sufficiency.
Transitional housing- families pay well-below market rate rent for up to two years while they develop the necessary skills for self-sufficiency.
Permanent supportive housing- will be provided soon for those who will need long-term assistance due to a disability to remain housed.
Supportive services- exists to aide families in their journey. These include: free on-site laundry, the Gunner James Burnam Food Pantry, clothing and hygiene pantry, success coaching, financial fitness in cooperation with Citizens Bank, nutrition classes in partnership with Purdue Extension, smoking cessation options provided by Ready Set Quit Tobacco, 5 Love Languages workshops, 7 Habits of Highly effective teens, a Homework Club, Wyatt Saylor Back Pack Buddies Program, job search assistance, substance abuse counseling and referral, transportation aid, and play therapy program.
Trained staff- all are trained in safe food handling, Darkness to Light- Stewards of Children, and CPR/First-aid. Staff degrees include: Licensed Clinical Social Worker, Masters in Counseling Psychology, Business, and Human Services.
Transparency- agency has a gold star rating with GuideStar for fiscal and program accountability.
2018- 20,532 nights of shelter were provided. 9,380 of those nights were to children.
