Purpose: To provide resources to fund extracurricular activities for school-aged children who are active in youth sports.
History: This fund was created with the belief that the youth of Morgan County need and are entitled to participate in physical education and organized sporting activities. Structured physical activity and organized athletics are an important part of the education of youth. Structured physical activity and organized activities are a usual and ordinary part of a school education but are not easily made a part of the education during the current tough economic times and this fund will ensure that the youth of Morgan County will have the opportunity to participate in extracurricular activities.
Especially the sport of baseball, because it fosters an enjoyment for physical exercise, learning fundamentals of a national sport while helping to build individual character, loyalty, and teamwork. The fund name is derived from Cooperstown New York which is home of the Major League Baseball Hall of Fame and the site of a facility called Cooperstown Dreams Park.
