Strengthening Our Vision: Mike Marvel Appointed to CFMC Board of Directors

2025 is here and just a few days into the new year and already CFMC has great news:  Mike Marvel is joining our Board of Directors!  Mike will be a great asset to our Community Foundation with his impressive background in finance and accounting and his prior service to the Community Foundation of Central Illinois.  Mike retired from Caterpillar Inc. in 2022 after extensive travel and an assignment abroad for the company as their Chief Accounting Officer.  Caterpillar is the world’s leading manufacturer of construction and mining equipment, diesel and natural gas engines, industrial gas turbines and diesel-electric locomotives.

Mr. Marvel worked for Caterpillar from 2006 until his retirement.  Prior to becoming Chief Accounting Officer, he held a variety of positions at the company including Chief Financial Officer at Solar Turbines Incorporated, a Caterpillar company, and their Global Financial Services Division in Peoria, Illinois and Geneva, Switzerland.  Prior to joining Caterpillar in 2006, Mr. Marvel worked for Eli Lilly and Company in a variety of financial positions for approximately 10 years and worked as an auditor with Coopers & Lybrand for over 10 years.  Mr. Marvel earned his business degree in Accounting from Indiana University in 1984.  He is a Certified Public Accountant.

He is currently President of the Indiana Chapter of Delta Upsilon Alumni Association, Inc.’s Corporation Board and Treasurer of the First Presbyterian Church of Martinsville.  In the past, he has served as a director on numerous not-for-profit boards including the YMCA of San Diego County; Barbara B. Jordan YMCA in Martinsville, Indiana; the Community Foundation of Central Illinois in Peoria; and the Gleaners Foodbank in Indianapolis, Indiana.   Mike’s professional and civic experience will be such an asset to Morgan County.  Welcome aboard, Mike!
